The Lent Term of every academic year in the Lutheran Schools across the country is known for many exciting events. One of such events is the election of prefects for both the primary and JHS departments.

Right from the nomination, to the vetting, manifesto reading and Election Day, the schools get a whole new energy injected into its streams of activities with the bold future leaders of tomorrow positioning themselves as the most preferred candidates for the various positions published by the elections committee in every school.

Positions that are contested for include the prestigious school prefects, challenging position of compound prefect, exciting job of a canteen prefect, the noble position of Chaplain Prefects among others. The strategies adopted by candidates to rally the maximum votes on the day of elections were very interesting ones with well-designed campaign posters with catchy-phrases becoming the order of the day.

The iconic manifesto reading ceremonies were indeed revealing times for many, with exceptional confidence, public-speaking skills and very convincing messages delivered non-stop. Deciding therefore became difficult, however the very best among the best came out victorious to champion the newly improved and reformed chapter of student leadership in the Lutheran Schools.

Our elections were very transparent and standard with the inclusion of equipment, set-ups, procedure and officials of the elite Electoral Commission of Ghana. Aside promoting excellent leadership among students, it was also another great opportunity to inculcate valuable civic education and sense of responsibility in a more practical way to our pupils.
